Penzance/Madron Scout Group

There is over one hundred years of scouting history in Madron. The Madron Scout Group was formed in 1911 by Captain Venning (Later to become Major Venning) and our first Headquarters was in a barn belonging to Mr Richards of “The Reens”, Heamoor.

They soon moved to a room in Landithy Hall, Madron. Mrs Robin Bolitho made this available to them and they met there one night a week. Over the next five decades the group moved their headquarters a number of times within the local area until August 1969 when 1st Penzance amalgamated with 1st Madron.

Today you can find them at the PZ/Madron Scout Hall which is in the village of Heamoor, about 1 mile north of Penzance. It’s located behind the Royal British Legion Building in Bolitho Road, Heamoor TR18 3EH.

The group caters for young people between the ages of 6 to 18, with sections for Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers, and aims to help young people to develop the practical, employability and character skills they need to succeed in life.

There are also many volunteer roles available for adults that would like to take part in the adventure! If you are interested, please get in touch.
