Cornwall has set ambitious targets to reduce the number of people killed and seriously injured on our roads by 50% by 2030. Acknowledging the action that’s required to meet our road casualty reduction targets, and the fact the road safety industry has moved on since our last review in 2019, we are looking to refresh Cornwall’s Road Casualty Reduction Strategy with due regard to both Safe System and best practice approaches.
As part of this work, we have launched a road safety survey on ‘Lets Talk’ Cornwall asking residents for their views about how safe they feel on our roads and how we can make roads safer for all road users. This survey will be used to inform the content and strategic direction of the refreshed Road Casualty Reduction Strategy. The survey will run until the 13th January 2025.
This launch has been planned to coincide with Road Safety Week 17-23 November and represents a great opportunity to highlight how we can work together to ensure that all road users are safe on our roads.
We know that road safety is important for the safety of our communities and has been identified as a priority by a number of CAPs in their action plans. We would be grateful for your support in highlighting this survey to residents and stakeholders across your Partnership Areas. The survey will also be publicised across social media and within the council newsletter.
